The redesigned RDX has gotten off to a torrid start, but brand chief Jon Ikeda says Acura isn't planning more crossovers.
The Acura RDX continued to post record sales results for American Honda in November, but it was not enough to offset declines for higher-volume vehicles such as the Honda Civic and Pilot.
Acura is cutting the price of the freshened 2019 ILX compact luxury sedan, a key entry point for the brand, amid an industrywide slump in car sales.
Honda had a strong U.S. sales performance in September from the freshened Honda Pilot and re-engineered Acura RDX crossovers, but lower sales across the rest of the line resulted in a 7 percent sales dip from the year-earlier period.
Crossovers and the Ridgeline pickup came to the rescue at American Honda in August. Despite slumping car sales, the Honda and Acura brands registered a combined 1.3 percent sales bump in August.
